So I’ve always heard of the term SEO but never really given any thought to it and what it actually implies. Most of us know what SEO stands for but what does it actually do?

SEO is a process of optimizing a webpage in a way where we can communicate the value that we are providing to the people searching for similar info.

The search engine tries to answer the question of a user. It tries to provide the user with valuable info in the first few results.SEO is the process of getting ranked in the valuable info provided to the user.

To optimize the site in such a way that the search engine picks it up as a reliable source of information for user queries.

What does the Search Engine Do?

The search engine does the complex task of analyzing all the information available on the internet and making sense of it. Different types of content are analyzed to provide the best possible answers to searchers.

How search engines play a role in Traffic generation

In today’s day and age generating, traffic seems much easier than ever. With social media and advertisements skyrocketing more than ever. Even with these skyrocketing numbers, the search engine stands bringing in the largest chunk of traffic.

User-centric

The most basic thing to do to rank on top with search engines is to put mainline focus on users. Everything should be focused on enhancing the experience of the users. Their visits should be a breeze and the UI should be designed in such a way that it makes things easy for the user to understand. Along with these things, the focus should be to clear user queries in the best possible way with your solutions without beating around the bush and having clickbait-like content around.

The key takeaway here is rather than thinking of how to optimize pages for the search engine, the idea has to be to make it better for users.

Three ways in which content is filtered

process by which SEO content gets highlighted is through

Crawling

To put crawling in plain terms, think of a spider that crawls around on the internet can also be termed as a bot. This bot’s job is to find all sorts of relevant information on the internet for user queries.

Indexing

Works in a similar fashion to crawling except its job is to make sure that the content is stored in the URLs database so that it can be called easily during a search query. The main logic of this process is retained and recall, it retains information and recalls relevant information to the query when required.

Backlinks

Backlinks simply works like referrals. When different sites refer to the URL of the webpage the search engine considers the site valuable and increases its listing accordingly. The more referrals the more the chance of the content appearing on the search results page.

The most important aspect of getting your site out there is keywords

Keywords refer to the words or phrases people are referring to when searching for results.

The best possible way to score with keywords is

to have an idea of what people are searching for

what is it exactly that people are looking for, what are they expecting in answers. Which words or common patterns of sentences are stemming from their search.

The volume of people searching for this information

Best possible way to present information

through pictures, text, pdf whatever it is.

To conclude we are at a level where hacking away at the search engine is not going to do us any good as the search engines nowadays understand our language and stuffing keywords and cloaking with a bot are the worst possible options to get listed in the results of relevant search results. These are stupid things to do rather the goal should be to provide unique content that is targeted at the user rather than the search engine, A lasting impression needs to be left on the users to win the SEO game.
